Chosen after reviewing over 275 submissions, The winners of the 2026 Meanwhile Park Playwright Prize is “A French Toast” by Matthew Ivan Bennett and Directed by Jason Bowcutt.

“A French Toast” tells the story of a straitlaced middle-aged woman who is devastated

when her ex-husband gets remarried in the gorgeous countryside of South France. After she meets the jaded yet charming manager of a B&B there’s no time to lick her wounds as her values are thrown to the wind, her relationship with her daughter is battered, and she must choose between her old life and a possible new one.

NOTE: The Park Gate does not open until 8:30 p.m. This is a private, ticketed event. You must be 21 or older to attend. No one will be admitted without a ticket.
